Eli Lilly's bad press

The NY Times has an interesting story on how Eli Lilly has been deliberately hiding the bad side effects of Zyprexa for nearly a decade.

While it would be foolish to downplay the significance of finding ironclad evidence of such a cover up, as a pawn in the system, I can only say, no shit Sherlock. Of course big drug companies hide these kind of side effects from the public. It's one of those Catch-22 moments in health care. Major law suits drive up prices and hurt the average consumer. But without major lawsuits, big companies are prone to corrupt decisions that maximize profit at the expense of the consumer/patient. Ugh. What a mess.
